Our Events

With our roots in Bengali culture and traditions, we hail from various parts of the world who have now branched off in this distant land Alberta, Canada that we proudly call our Home now. We have adopted ourselves in our new multicultural surroundings but still enjoy the diverse features which are so integral to Bengali way of life – our rich literature, visual and performing arts, festivals and religious events.

Art & Performances

We have adopted ourselves in our new multicultural surroundings but still enjoy the diverse features which are so integral to Bengali way of life – our rich literature, visual and performing arts, festivals and religious events.

Many of these events are sponsored by our members and well-wishers from the business community who have stood with us over the years. In addition to this feature, our cultural functions in the past have been graced by several artists from India. We enjoyed their rendition as much as they loved our animated participation. We also celebrate the Bengali New Year and the Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti and show-case talents from our community with great pride.

Festivals & Puja Celebrations

EBA organizes and celebrates several events – our religious annual festivals like Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, Lakshmi and Kali Puja are hosted with lots of pomp and show.  The pujas are always accompanied by our mouth-watering famous Bengali traditional food; which is prepared and served by volunteers with great enthusiasm; and is of course relished by all, children, adults and anyone participating from other communities.

EBA proudly holds Bengali classes wherein anyone, a child or an adult can learn Bengali from volunteers with Bengali knowledge and cultural background.

Fun & Frolics

A picnic during the summer to enjoy the sun and having some outdoor fun along with some sports is integral to our activities. Some of our members regularly play table tennis at the EBA facility to socialize and maintain fitness. And we end the year by celebrating Christmas and welcoming the New Year. In addition, we hold donation drives for Edmonton Foodbank and donate blood enthusiastically. Our members and youth raise funds for a cause – For Bissell Centre, Edmonton Food Bank, Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton just to name a few.
