News Update – Post Sanskritik Sandhya

Hope this letter finds you and your family members in good health and spirits! Our recent past event, Rabindra-Nazrul Sanskritik Sandhys, on June 5 at the Yellowbird Community League Hall was a remarkable success. Many volunteers extended their helping hands throughout the day to make the event successful.

Our cultural and sports secretaries coordinated the cultural program with their earnest efforts to make the event enjoyable for all. We all enjoyed the entertainment presented by our children and local talents with their songs and dance items. The children’s segment was certainly amazing, and we appreciate their parents’ time and efforts to prepare for these budding artists’ stage performance. Our special attraction was Nandini Debnath who came from Ontario to perform with her melodious voice, and her versatile songs captivated the audience. Based on random feedback, her songs entertained all of us! The EBA Executive Committee (EC) thanks all volunteers who made it possible to have such an enjoyable in-person event held after a couple of years! We would like to acknowledge the assistance extended by the EC members’ spouses for this event with their time from the start to the end. Our special thanks are certainly due to our attendees as without their encouragement and support no event will ever be complete and successful! We also thank our two Emcees, Ilona Maitra and Poulami Purkayastha, who did an excellent job to keep the stage performance on time and schedule.

The EC is pleased to extend our special thanks to Indranil Chowdhury who made arrangement with a short notice to have a former Alberta Minister of Culture, Leela Sharon Aheer who is also a current MLA to attend our event as well as to speak to the gathering on the occasion.

You might recall that the EBA President mentioned in her speech about the AGLC approval for the upcoming renovation work at the EBA Centre. We would like to inform you that the work will start from the third week of July. Even though four individuals have agreed to volunteer their supervisory time for this renovation work, we would like to invite other interested individuals for this work to facilitate the scheduling of shifts for supervision. Accordingly, if anyone else is interested in volunteering, please contact one of the EC members by the first week of July.

We will also keep you posted on our upcoming Annual Picnic in our next email!

Stay safe and keep in good health and see you all at our upcoming event!
